Thank goodness they opened back up. It was getting harder to control my diabetes without being able to exercise. And before you self-centered insensitive individuals who are concerned about getting a new version of the flu start blabbering about “you can always run” don’t have a personal understanding with what running does to blood sugar and can bring you down way to quickly, without warning. You can’t just switch exercise processes on a dime when there are underlying concerns.
A risk chart published in the New York Post ranks gym use right behind drinking at a bar as some of the most dangerous activities people can do. It certainly is not recommended for those over 60 and/or weakened immune system.
I’ve enjoyed having the extra time to do a lot of exercising and walking. I’ve also been in touch with a lot of my gym friends. We haven’t even started to make plans to start up yet, but I think what they will do will include a lot of distancing and outdoor exercising.
