I was a cop, so we had liberal time off. My wife has always had jobs with flexible bosses/hours. Plus we had two grammas locally who were eager to help. I took for granted how fortunate we were! I even learned we could use our accumulated sick leave for family leave. I talked my wife into having another baby! When he was born, I had 12 weeks paid family leave, 5 weeks vacation, 6 paid holidays I hadn’t used, and 5 personal days, so I had over 19 weeks of paid paternity leave! My wife had the baby and only got 8! But I got up with him very night for that time. I called it my practice retirement! I retired when he was 2, and got to be a full-time dad until he went to school. We really have been blessed!
Some companies (not any that I have worked for, unfortunately) don’t require an explanation for using sick time. If you feel that you need time off for nausea, for a sick kid, for fatigue, for mental health, etc., go right ahead!

As long as you have vacation and sick leave, it’s no one’s business what you use it for. I had no problems when I was working.

This is why it’s necessary to have unions (ones that work properly, anyway)

How’s your mom? Recovering, I hope.

Why does she need to go home? Her Mom is there, as is her work-from-home sister. They can’t help out?

Just say, “I have explosive diarrhea.” They’ll send you home every time…
