For awhile, I had a job where the enthusiasm of the young programmers was such that noise cancelling headphones were a requirement if I wanted to get any work done. And at that, I took to stealing their nerf-ammo if it landed in my work area. Shortly, my manager found me a (shared by another fogey) office where the two of us could quietly go about what we were hired to do. And not all that long later, I was requested to find a more congenial place to fit in. Which I was happy to do.

PS: That company, a startup, folded within a year or so, having run through all the investor’s money and produced nothing of real value… not even the work I’d been doing. Nice to be paid to get an education, maybe.

Ear plugs! Maybe I should use them to stifle the sound of the leaf blowers.

I rememebr when my kids were young and had those kiddy steering wheels with lots of buttons to press. One kid with one wheel = ugh, what an annoying noice. Two kids with two wheels = oh, what a nice peaceful time, no fighting kids to separate.
