We give gift cards, since it’s so hard to shop for our family. It may seem impersonal, but it’s better that they buy what they want.

Cash and a gift just to make it a little personal.

That’s 1 old cash register. And when they spend like that, they’re surely getting more than a single bill. And MINE sure go far, from Wilmington Delaware to Southwest Missouri.

Wife asks me what I want, then buys me what she thinks I should have. She also buys herself what she wants and labels it from me. She buys presents for our daughters; I give them money in a card (which my wife picked out.) Wife wraps the presents and does the cooking; I watch football and eat. 36 years of wedded bliss!

This is what happens when you allow materialism to be the focus of what should be a joyous time of year.

The head on the bear Joan is holding is on backwards. Don’t think I’d buy that – especially at the price it appears to be,

We live 5 hours away so it’s easier for us to transfer money to their banking accounts – no worries on thefts or loss in the mail/packaging systems.

One of the many things I like about being Jewish is that I don’t celebrate Christmas and thus don’t have to spend most of December scurrying about buying gifts for family and friends. I do enjoy buying them gifts one at a time for their birthdays and other special occasions.
