The new decade begins in 2010. Rhey can take their heads out of the sand then - until they feel the need to put ‘em back in.

Colt And the 1950’s included 1960 and not 1950? Get real.

The new decade begins with 0. End of discussion.

pearlandpeach y2k was not part of the 20th century either.

Both are right. It depends on whether you mean cardinally or socially. Cardinal decades and centuries start with the one (there was no year 0) and go to the next 10 or 100, and would be used when referring to the age of something. Socially, decades refer to years in which only the last digit differs, centuries the last 2, and would be used when referring to a social period of time (eg. the 80’s, last century)

Hopefully, that deflects the debates - let’s keep a happy spirit going here.

“The bad news is we’re being dragged into giant anthills…”

BTW, aside from the missing toes here, ostriches only put their heads along the ground, not *in* it. They’re not trying to hide. They can see predators more easily that way.

    (Oh no, I’m channeling JAD!)

A decade is ten years, right? How many years have you lived when you turned ten years old? Ten, right? So you see, 10 is the last year of the decade. The new decade starts in 2011. Also, the year following 1 B.C. was 1 A.D.

Your logic is faulty rainman. What happen to the fist 365 days leading up to your first birthday?
