The only bird I’ve ever seen sticking out its tongue is a hummy. (We have a feeder by the kitchen window, so I can see clearly when it “licks its lips” after getting some nectar (sugar water). The other feeders are further away, so maybe I just haven’t seen it.
When I was four a couple of “friends” double-dog-dared me to lick the frost off a pickup truck. My mother soon showed up with a kettle of warm water (she didn’t even have to google the remedy to the situation, a good thing as that was over 67 years ago).
