Is that Frances with an E or Francis with an I? Do I sound like a soprano?

Per IMdB the tagline on the 1950 movie poster was “You’ll remember ‘Francis’ as long as you can LAUGH!”

They were right: I can still laugh and I still remember Francis the Talking Mule.

Reminds me of a cartoon I saw in an adult magazine many many years ago.

For younger readers who may not get this, Francis The Talking Mule was the star of several movies in the 1950’s and featured Donald O’Conner as his sidekick. While they were B-movies, they were quite popular especially among us kids who enthusiastically bought into the premise.

Its popularity led to the creation of a TV show with a similar theme, ‘Mr. Ed’, with the same inimitable voice provided by Chill WIlls.
