@MaxLooking at yesterday’s cartoon post and the subsequent comments from our readers, I couldn’t help but notice that there was virtually no empathy or sympathy for the kid who vaulted himself into space with such dire consequences. Our readers, by the very nature of their comments, found the content of this cartoon humorous and even seemed to take delight in the demise of the youngster. Is this what we have all become? People who are quick with a wisecrack, a smirk and a wink at the misfortunes of others? Are we so uncaring that this type of gratuitous cartoon content garners the laughter of others at the plight of their fellow human beings? Are we all so callous? So shallow?
Let’s do it again! There were so many great comments posted on last week’s cartoons that we are hosting another Comment Contest this week. -Post the funniest comment of the week, OR -Post the most interesting comment of the week. -The winner will receive a personalized copy of a Sunny Street cartoon signed by Max that has been posted here on GoComics. The cartoon will be printed on heavy stock and suitable for framing.-Make sure you register with GoComics so that you can comment. (Don’t forget to subscribe to SunnyStreet and help feed our egos.)-We will be giving away one cartoon print per week for the 3 more weeks.-So stay home from work or school, skip meals, plagiarize Mark Twain or some other humorist and comment as often as you like.

@TameI sure hope so, because we’ve got a whole lot more of this type of stuff coming and hopefully we can score a payoff.

A payoff! Alright! Hey, maybe the cartoon would make a good bumper sticker, eh?

I’m very disappointed that no one was maimed, killed and/or launched into space today in your strip, Max. Oh well, there’s always Monday.
