I got to visit a nuclear silo in New Raymer, Colorado (now deactivated, I believe). Two guys with guns, each having a key to triggers on the wall about ten feet apart. The guns were for if the other guy started acting crazy. They played chess while they were waiting.
I asked about an empty panel on the wall and was told it was up in Cheyenne being worked on. The place was technically out of order at the time we (I was there with an electronics class) saw it. Then we got back on the elevator and left them to their coffee, chess, and pistols.

I hope this silo is not located in Honolulu, or at least I hope they get really bad LTE coverage down there.

He first has to boot the PDP-8 controller with the single sided 8" floppy disk before the button will work.

Good thing he didn’t fall asleep on the button.
