My maternal grandparents were first cousins, and they were of old New England Puritanical stock. Of course, my oh-so-morally-rigid Grandma denied the relation to her dying day. I’m pretty sure she believed in her heart that her father was not her biological father.

Cousin? What’s wrong with marrying cousins? It’s actually legal in a few states.
