This is an homage to a famous cartoonist or the 1969-1972 era, maybe Zap comics? A “regular guy” asked the famous cartoonist to illustrate his dull life, and apparently those comic books sold well. The most famous illustration by this famous cartoonist is perhaps the “trucking man” which was also enshrined in the song “Keep On Truckin’”. I saw a low budget movie of the famous cartoonist.Sorry, can’t recall name, but if you want you can easily find online with this much info.

He cashed in by giving Travis a Mohawk haircut and a last name of Bickle, and his comic was made into a hit movie.
