You meant to write, “that are only on the field one day a week,” right? Ever notice that the refs aren’t in the same stadium every week? How do they get there? If you traveled for your work, wouldn’t you expect to be paid for that?Also, the rules change, even if only a little, every year—hell, in the NFL they sometimes change mid-season! How about the time they spend learning the rule changes? And I’m sure there are plenty of other examples of work they do that we don’t see.
