Or how about making the colleges educate people instead of whoring themselves as a Farm system for the billionaires? The business of sports no longer belongs in the college system.
A perfect solution would be players devote themselves to playing while eligible and in four-five years, they are given full ride scholarships to the major of their choice.
A better solution would be to eliminate government subsidies for all non-technical (i.e., useless) majors. Engineering plus the Swedish Nobel categories.
The problem with paying athletes is if you pay one, you have to pay them all. Can’t just pay football/basketball players. ALL athletes, male and female will have to be paid. Now the colleges/universities have to treat the athlete as an employee and those athletes/employees are subject to all taxes. It’s not as simple as some would make it appear.

So why were the other 1500 non-athletes allowed to take fake classes at UNC?

No, Tank. It’s an argument for dropping the falsehood that the athletes are getting an education for their efforts.

@Olongapojoe That would never stand up in court. Equal opportunity laws would be violated.
