    Great quarterbacks is something open to what a person thinks. Many focus on the yards, completions, percentages, and interceptions; these are tangables that are easily understood and make a great athelete playing a position. A great quarterback has intangables that aren’t or are difficult to measure; leadership, team responsibility, presence, and others. It’s difficult to measure the intangables if you haven’t seen the quarterback play.

    For sheer guts and durability, and an uncanny knack of pulling a team out of a dumpster fire, I have always liked George Blanda, who proved – before Brady – that there was life after 40 in the NFL.
