I don’t follow football that much. Are the Chiefs talking about moving.

I don’t mind the name that much, but if the WFT can change their NAME, the Chiefs can get rid of that ****ing chop.

In a way it would be kind of returning to their roots since they started out as the Dallas Texans of the AFL.

I hope sports come back this year. Who knows how out of shape these athletes are.

I doubt the name “Chiefs” would fly here in SA…maybe something more Hispanic-themed…

San Antonio-Austin is a great, underserved market that I’m sure would love the NFL, and vice-versa. But the Cowboys and Texans would have hissy fits, which means it won’t happen any time soon (that and, if the NFL expands, the scheduling nightmares of 34 teams).

Admittedly the Redskins is a deragatory term and and perhaps the Indians was as well but it has gotten out of hand with some of the others being targeted. Warriors, Chiefs and Braves were terms not only used by First Nations but other cultures as well. And now a local HS team has had to change their name from crusadors to avoid offending Muslims

Kansas City Chiefs, born the Dallas Texans. You also had the Los Angeles Chargers, the New York Titans (given that name by the owner because a titan is bigger than a Giant) and, the Boston Patriots (played their games at Fenway and Harvard Stadium.

San Antonio did have a CFL team in 1995 and lost only to Baltimore in the playoffs that year. Too bad the expansion experiment was contracted after the 1995 season. The stadium did measure up to the standards of the larger CFL field. The league wide money problems did not.

Back in my younger years when I followed the NFL more closely, it seemed to me that there was a disproportionate amount of animosity towards the Oakland Raiders from the KC Chiefs and fans. Or was this just my (youthful and locally influenced) impression? I thought it had something to do with the Athletics moving from Kansas City to Oakland around that time.

Considering the fame of KC BBQ, I’d suggest the Kansas City Chefs.

As a Kansas City Chiefs fan of more than 30 years, this comic made me laugh out loud. Sorry, San Antonio. Get your own team.
