You gotta wonder why anyone would haul in tons of valuable building materials and send hundreds of workmen to build such an elaborate palace in the middle of nowhere… Or, maybe it would be better not to wonder because there is no good answer.

Meanwhile, it is worth wondering why the bandits – desperate to save the life of their leader – didn’t give him a fatal dose of Wrong-Way Harrigan’s snake oil out in the oasis rather than hours or days of rough travel before administering it.
