Are you a victim of age discrimination? Brought to you by the supreme court! You're 45. Your boss promotes a less qualified 60-year-old ahead of you. Age discrimination? (MAn 1: Sorry kid.) No. The law only protects you if you're "too old." A 38-year old fashion model gets fired for being "too old" age discrimination? (Man 2: So long, crone!) No. The law only protects workers over 40. Ok. what about an elderly guy fired so his company can replace him with a younger person earning a smaller salary? (Man 3: The loss of your wisdom and experience will be easily erased by the $22,000 we'll save by dumping you.) No. The law allows such "cost-cutting" measures. Nine jurists, average age of 70, issue inconsistent and illogical rulings. Can they be fired for senility? (Man 4: Race discrimination doesn't cover asians.) (Woman: Except Ameri-asians.) (Man 5: Unless you're gay!)
