Man: We love you, Al!! Lunatic: Get off my pesticide-free lawn! Reporter: I say Thomas Jefferson will win if he runs. Reporter: Absolutely - but he's dead. Reporter: Jefferson by 8 points post-resurrection! Candidate: You'll get to know me after I impose - er, win. You didn't vote for the candidate you want, but for the candidate you have, which, in a 2-party system, isn't much of a candidate. Voter dissatisfaction prompts otherwise sane journalists to speculate about candidates who won't or can't run. The less likely the candidacy, the more space and time is devoted to studying its implications. Which suits the real candidates just fine.
