Foster update: Annie, the poor old kitty, has decided the cat cube is hers. And, she now follows me around wanting petties. The kittens seems to like Puddin and Puddin tolerates her. I don’t let her out into the house – there are too many places for her to hide, but she spends the day here in the den with me. At least until she nods off. Then it’s back to the kitten room so I can open the doors.
I baked a Rainbow Cheesecake last night (you can google the recipe). Well, mine did not turn out as good as the one in the video did. The one in the video looked light and fluffy but mine was heavier and drier. I think it might be because I baked it too long at too high a temperature. You’re supposed to bake it at 325° for an hour, but I forgot to reset my oven and I baked it at 350° for an hour. It looked good except unlike the one in the video, mine was brown on top. Then after it “rested” in the oven for a while (as the recipe instructed), it fell. It was light and fluffy looking before it fell. I will say it tastes okay, though. I want to try it again another time, but I might not make it a “rainbow”. If I use food coloring in the next one, I think I’ll use fewer colors (it’s simpler that way) and give it more of a Neopolitan ice cream look. And I’ll bake it at the correct temperature.
I think I have a con man after me wanting to do home repairs. A few months back, I got a phone call from someone wanting to do a home inspection, inspecting my house for storm damage. He claimed he was working for the village or some such nonsense. Well, the storm to which he was referring had happened at least 2 or 3 months earlier. Why would people wait that long to look at storm damage? And why would we need anyone else who never saw what our houses looked like before the storm come to show us what damage the storm did? I already knew what damage the storm had done to my house. No hail damage to the house (it sure pounded my rhubarb, though), but the wind blew a wood frame storm window out and smashed it to smithereens. Well, of course, I never made an appointment to have this guy come and inspect my house – no way, no how.
This morning, when I got home from my short walk to the post office, I found a note from a construction company on my front door, asking me to call them. I did not see the note there when I left the house though. Now, I know my house needs some repair work, But I have a regular guy named Andy who I call when I need work done. When I am financially ready, I will call Andy to do my home repairs, not this total stranger. I think this is the guy I see working on the house next door. I don’t have a good feeling about him. I don’t see him doing any good to Kay’s house and I don’t want him touching my house. Needless to say, I won’t be calling this guy,
