The surgery took one hour. I woke up easily and was out of the hospital in another hour. My right arm hung useless in a sling with no feeling at all in it. Feeling started to come back by 3:15 am and I could move my fingers again. I am right handed and it is discouraging the list of things I can’t do left-handed. Thank God my shoes have Velcro fasteners! Typing and mousing on the computer is slow and painstaking.
I’m back to take a look, but it’s so murky in here, I can’t see my hand in front of my face………..the light switch has to be here somewhere……….ouch! what did I bump into?…….MEOUCH YOWL oops, sorry whichever one you are……….hey, no biting!…………can’t find the light………..
I once severely dislocated my left shoulder. My arm was strapped to my torso for 12 weeks. I learned to keep the caps lock key engaged for typing. I also found an app in Word that was useful for applications that needed two keys pressed at once; with it you pressed the first, then the second, and for a few seconds they were as one. Very handy. The funniest thing was: My sister came over the help me shower. I got into the tub, she handed me the open bottle of shampoo, and then she heard me say, “S—-!” and she started laughing like a maniac because she knew exactly what had happened. Through long habit I had poured a big dollop of shampoo into the palm of my left hand, which I couldn’t move to my head of wet hair.
