Today is National Hot Dog Day. I don’t eat very many hot dogs. A one pound package typically lasts me a whole year (I freeze them after I open the package). But it is my day off and I could fire up the grill (my favorite way of cooking hot dogs) and I could cook a hot dog, if it doesn’t rain. I like a couple slices of bacon with my hot dog too and I just bought bacon on sale and have it in my freezer. Hmmmm… maybe it’s a hot dog day.
National Swap Ideas Day. Anyone have an idea to swap?
National Ants on A Log Day. Okay, the peanut butter and raisins I can do, but the “log” is a stalk of celery and I’ve never been able to make myself like celery. I need something different for my “log”. Maybe a graham cracker?
National TV Dinner Day. Some of the TV dinners are not too bad, but most seem to be too high in sodium to be very healthy.
For marilynnbyerly from yesterday – “every day is Pet Memorial Day” – yes, how true. I have kept track of the births and deaths of my cats since the 1970’s and there are so many cats on it who have passed and so many dates – it’s starting to feel like soon every day of the year will be the anniversary of the death of one of my babies. I hate when they die close to my birthday or close to Christmas. Looking at my printout, I’ve lost quite a few close to Christmas. These are dates some of them died right before Christmas.

Oops! I missed a birthday yesterday! Well, actually I missed TWO birthdays. My Dexter and Marlow turned 13 yesterday! Luckily, they didn’t know it was their birthday, so if I throw a canned cat food party for them today, they won’t know I’m a day late. They also won’t know I’m throwing the “party” for their birthday, but that’s beside the point. PARTY ON KITTIES!. It’s your birthday (plus one day)!
Our sweet Woof….although he did once say Chesney was going nut nuts. We made the 12 1/2 hour round trip to Beverly Hills and back yesterday. Wasn’t sure I could still do it. There is a huge fire up the road burning north east towards the next town which was evacuated last night, and some backpackers were helicoptered out of the high country. The wind did not pick up here as predicted so I am hoping it laid down overnight. The shift key on my laptop is not working so it looks like I have to send it off for repair or I won’t be able to sign in. Difficult for me to read the news and 10 kitties on my phone.
I was teaching science Tuesday morning, September 11, 2001, when a teacher ran into my room and told me to turn on the TV. It was 9:30. Usually the TV is turned to Channel One for the 10 minute morning newscast aimed at children. Since we were on the local cable system, I turned to a network affiliate just in time for me and my 8th graders to see the second plane crash into the second tower. Needless to say, all thoughts of teaching flew out the window at that point.
They say there’s a significant event marking each generation. For my parents it was Sunday, December December 7, 1941. I have two such events: November 22, 1963 (I was in 8th grade), when President Kennedy was killed. and Sep 11th.
Stick around, Kitties. Maybe Woof will do his famous impression of Harpo Marx. On another note, went to the zoo today. Saw lots of cool animals, including a very energetic ocelot. Saw a rainbow on the way home.
I just thought of something. Maybe Woof is one of those cats with a Silent Meow, like my JohnJohn. Actually he can talk out loud when he wants to, but a lot of the time he just opens his mouth and nothing comes out. Maybe Woof has been talking the whole time, but nobody can hear him. (Which of course would eventually make him shy.)

Woof is a boring speaker, but he makes his point.

Would save on the colored pens if the cats were only shown at night.

Since he isn’t saying anything, maybe his speech should be “What I don’t like about the Warehouse”. No complaints about the warehouse from Woof.

If one just eats the box the TV dinner comes in…probably not much salt there. The rest of it is garbage! Just a personal opinion.

And it is extra good hearing from Noreen Kloss too.

From the looks of the feline audience I’d say we have a kinda Pooch Cafe crossover. Carmen better count noses.
