My friend lives next to a terrible family who doesn’t take care of its animals – horses or cats. They starve, they freeze, you get the idea. Best Friends has helped her trap and fix some of them but mostly my friend does it on her own. She feeds and waters the cats and kittens and they all go to her. It’s how she ended up with one of the kittens (it fell off of the block wall) and was able to rescue another one that went to a foster family and he got adopted last week by a family with a 9 yr old daughter.
Two weeks ago her husband built a cat house/shed for them. She keeps it warm with hay and soft blankets. He installed low warming lights and a video feed so they can watch the cats 7/24. Yesterday,. she gave me a USB stick with a week of videos and I’ve been watching the cats and kittens go in and out, play in there, etc. She goes thru 30 lbs of cat food every two weeks and was concerned about how to keep their water from freezing. So, last night I ordered one of those heated water dishes for her and offered to share the food costs.
I took her a little warming pad I’d gotten last year in case any kittens I fostered needed it. It only turns on when a kitty is on it.
If I knew how to get one or two of these videos on here, I’d share them. But I don’t so I can’t. Her husband is going to look into the possibility of live streaming next time he’s home. (he’s travels for their business and is gone more than he’s home)
