Speaking of humming – I have a co-worker who is always humming while working. It’s nice that he’s happy in his work, but he drives me absolutely BATTY!!! And not just because he hums all the time. It’s because he gets so little work done. It takes him at least 2 hours to work half a pallet of freight when it should take less than an hour to do it. While he worked his tiny bit of stationery freight yesterday, I did 5 pallets of plants and I finished my 5 pallets long before he finished his. The first was some orchids for Mother’s Day. In order to make room for them, I had to rearrange some other flowers we had up front. So I got those new orchids out, then I moved more orchids from the garden center to the front of the store so I could use that space for some of the new houseplants that came in. Then I did the houseplants. First I had to condense and rearrange the Boston ferns to make room for the new plants. After I put out those 2 pallets of plants, I brought out another pallet which had a half pallet on top of it with a wood sort of shelf unit full of small house plants. I had to take the plants off the shelves so I could get the half pallet off the big pallet, then I put the plants back on the shelves. Once that was done, I was able to work out the big box of Boston ferns that were on pallet #5. I got all of that done before my first break, meaning I did it all in 2 hours. And the “Hummer” was only about 75% of the way through his small pallet of stationery stuff. Then there was just a tiny bit of garden center freight for him to do while I went out and started watering flowers outside. Just a few bags of charcoal and some bags of bird seed and some suet cakes – stuff I could have gotten all worked in 15 minutes or less. It took him more than an hour! My 5-day vacation begins 2 weeks from tomorrow. It can’t come fast enough!
Bird Day. Speaking of birds, I saw 2 geese standing by the side of the road while I was driving home from work yesterday.
National Orange Juice Day. I’ll have some orange juice for breakfast in the morning.
National Renewal Day
National Weather Observation Day. I better watch the weather these next couple night as it’s getting into the 30’s and we might have to cover the plants outside. And we have an awful lot to cover!
National Candied Orange Peel Day. Orange peels, even candied, frankly don’t “a’peel” to me.
From yesterdays comments where I saw a pair of birds which I thought might be Orioles (and I was tired and I misspelled it), I googled it tonight and found this picture (among others) of an Oriole. I’m not sure the birds I saw had quite THAT much orange on them Gee, I wish I’d have seen them closer up!
So much for Global Warming where I live. So far this spring, there have only been two days when the temperature was over the average high for the day. It usually is 5 to 10° below the average high. As for allergies, staying indoors with filtered air makes a difference. Not much, but a difference.

I have the week off. Today I worked outside. Planted 2 hills of cucumber plants, 3 tomato plants, 12 portulaca, 12 verbena, 16 begonias and 2 hanging baskets. I usually have to do more begonias, but with last winter being mild I had quite a few come back.
Kudos to all those brave people out there who keep things running smoothly! :) On another note, saw two robins and three rabbits while out walking today. I also saw a Stellar’s Jay outside.

It’s good to have high expectations for yourself. Having those high expectations for others WILL drive you batty!

Road work delays are very common here in the summer, I hope there is extra work being done now with so little traffic to contend with.
