This does not sound good for our boys.

    Today is:

National Dance Like a Chicken Day. Well, I just don’t think I’ll feel up to that today after putting in a full day at work, but maybe on Tuesday when my mini-vacation (5 days off) starts. The weather will be warmer and I’m going to be in good spirits. I just might want to dance.

    National Buttermilk biscuit Day

National Decency Day. I looked this one up and found this:

National Decency Day on May 14th celebrates the basic standard of civility that every American deserves. DECENCY is a non-partisan grassroots movement launched to inspire decency in everyday life – in both conversations and actions. By raising awareness, the movement aims to encourage schools and local community groups to embrace DECENCY and integrate it into both curriculum plans and service projects.

DECENCY is all about:Active listeningBetter understandingCompassion

Decency offers an opportunity to be better role models for our children. If we can all be civil with one another, we are setting the right example.

It is also National Underground America Day. National Underground America Day recognizes the approximately 6,000 people who live in some form of underground architecture across North America. The observance also celebrates the lifestyle, architecture, and benefits of underground living.

Subterranean living boasts energy conservation as one of its top advantages. Completely covered homes or earth-sheltered homes are covered on all sides with soil while earth-bermed homes leave one side exposed. Both allow for more stable temperatures within the home and less exposure to the elements.

However, there are also some disadvantages. If you like lots of light and throwing open the windows on a summer day, this type of house might not be for you.

Not for me – I’d hate living like a mole. I like open windows in the summertime. My cats like looking out the windows at birds. I like looking out the windows too, even if just to check the weather. This just isn’t for me and my gang

From yesterday’s comments to WDemBlk – the hardest thing is closing one night & opening the next morning – I hate that too. We call it a "cl’open shift. And I’m sort of doing that this Sunday. I work until 11:00 Saturday night, then I’m back at 9:00 Sunday morning. The store opens at 7:00, but I set my availability for 9:00 as my earliest start time. I did that after I got a few too many shifts where I’d work until 11:00 one night, then start at 7:00 the next morning. I’ve done overnight shifts in the past (10:00 pm to 7:00 am) and I didn’t like it. I never did it for more than a week at a time and just for resetting mods (that’s when the get rid of deleted items & reset everything with new stuff, often in a different location. It’s easiest done while the store is closed because you have to pull everything off the shelves, relocate shelves & then restock them). There’s no more overnight shifts and even if we still had overnight shifts, I would never agree to do one again. It’s too hard to sleep that way.

I mentioned we put up a Hummingbird feeder. That was two weeks ago. Yesterday I refilled it.

As I sat on the patio this afternoon, I figured we got a Hummer about every 5 to 7 minutes!

Yes there are a lot of flowers out now, but this is giving them the energy and stamina they need to get thru the hot days to come.

There is also a nest in the roof tile and today when mama ( or poppa) flew out I could hear faint peeping coming from the nest!

    Ya gotta love spring!

Uh oh, looks like Jack and Chesney have a lot of explaining to do! (That is, if Lilly lets live live long enough to do so.) On another note, saw a rabbit and two geese while out walking today. I also heard a dove.

I went to our best local nursery this morning to get two pots of Bee Balm. Yes, for the bees, but also for the hummingbirds…they love it. My patch of Bee Balm disappeared over the winter. It’s been coming up for 8 or 9 years, and we didn’t have a bad winter. Perhaps an armadillo dug it up.
