Dogs are worse. I had a St. Bernard who was frustrated that I was planting pansies instead of noticing him. As I got up, he looked me straight in the eyes and rolled on the newly planted bed.
I can so relate to this poem! I let a few of my cats outside into my fenced yard (just the ones who don’t climb the fence and who don’t get scared and nervous outside) and that Cassie of mine is always underfoot when I’m trying to do any planting or weeding. My main garden is at my brother Mark’s place, but I do have a little stuff planted in my back yard. The peas are not doing well (some of them came up and then the plants disappeared and others didn’t come up at all). I planted the peas in my back yard because the one time I planted them in my main garden, the bunnies ate them up. Maybe I’m just not meant to grow peas. By the way, my main garden is doing quite well – the corn, tomatoes, green beans, watermelons & squash are growing well. Even the pumpkins look pretty good. Of course, the weeds have been growing well, too, but I’m working hard to remedy that.
Someday I expect to die from a cracked skull as Orange Kitty is always underfoot when I am in his fenced yard. As many times as I have accidentally stepped on his feet or tail I would think he would stay far away from me.

Our cats are indoor/outdoor, so as far as they’re concerned the yard belongs to them. They are more likely to find a nice bush to sleep under. When I go out to garden, they may eventually notice me and trail along, keeping an eye on me. If I’m lucky, they follow me inside for dinner.
Right now there is a pile of tree cuttings sitting in my back yard. I’m waiting for a time when I can move the garbage bin back there without disturbing sleeping cats. Between my two cats and the visits from the neighbor’s cat, it might still be a couple of more days. Maybe I’ll just take another nap.
I had a Mr Tabby. He was a stray who wandered into my Boston backyard in the mid-90s. He had an abscess so I brought him to the vet, and as I didn’t know where he came from he had to be quarantined for six months. Fortunately, our upstairs apartment was vacant. A short time later I met Chris and when he came over to visit from England he had to share the four-room apartment with Mr Tabby! We did let him out in the backyard eventually and he’d always come in and go straight upstairs to his apartment! W
Wonderful poem. Keep up the good work, Graham! :) I’ve never really had a problem with cats in my garden. Slugs, on the other hand, are a horrible nuisance. On another note, saw three rabbits, a robin, and a sparrow while out walking today. i also saw a hummingbird in my garden. (Thankfully, I didn’t see any slugs, though.)

We just reseeded all the bare spots on the lawn, but Spicy keeps peeing and digging in those spots that were bare for a reason.

Father’s Day. Have a great day, dads! We’re supposed to have very nice weather for Father’s Day. Sure better than the snow we got for Mother’s Day!
National Daylight Appreciation Day. I appreciate daylight every day!
National Selfie Day. I don’t do selfies. I don’t like how I look in pictures.
Go Skateboarding Day. I’d probably fall off and kill myself (or at least hurt myself). I’ll pass on that.
