National Texas Day. When I found myself unable to sleep in the wee hours of Sunday, I turned on the weather channel on TV to try to help me decide if I should try going to work Sunday morning. But all they talked about was other states- one of them being Texas. Oh how I wish we had that warm Texas weather here! It wasn’t too cold here for January in Wisconsin (around 28°F), but I liked the Texas weather forecasts better (highs into the 70’s). And we’re supposed to go into the deep freeze by Saturday night when we could see a low of 19° BELOW zero and a high next Sunday of 10 BELOW Zero. Can I interest anyone in some cold weather? I’d love to send some your way!
I hardly know how to say this. It’s all too sudden and I wasn’t ready for this. My dear cat, Marlow has just crossed the Rainbow Bridge. When I noticed that his body was getting thin and bony, but his stomach appeared bloated, I had thoughts about what might be wrong – maybe a belly full of tapeworms (that would have been the good scenario because it would be easier to treat) or a bad scenario would be a bowel obstruction and some very expensive surgery to unblock him. I called the vet this morning and once I described his symptoms, they squeezed us in their busy schedule. They thought it sounded too important to wait until tomorrow. He was weak and listless and was barely eating anything. He also appeared anemic. Well, an ultrasound showed a lot of fluid in the stomach and a rather large mass. Cancer. Stupid freaking CANCER! I had to do the humane thing. He was suffering and I had to end his suffering. This was all too sudden. I didn’t even consider cancer as a possibility. Marlow was 14 years old.
To make matters worse, I don’t have time to mourn right now. I need to leave for work in about 5 minutes.
And POW! Chesney goes sailing clear into the next county! You’d think he’d know better by now, wouldn’t you? On another note, saw two sparrows and three varied thrushes while out walking today.

Chesney can never resist the tease, even though he knows the consequences.

Those that don’t learn from the past are doomed to repeat it. I think this fits our orange menace.

Chesney’s final crack to Lily, ‘I reinforced the scale if you want to weigh yourself ’ guaranteed a launch all the way to Mousie’s and back. Ouch!
