Our internet went out today and I had a thought…all the residents around stay inside and watch TV all day. Now what will they do? And tonight the sound kept going mute in the middle of the news. Cox Cable is the worst.
Predicting high winds tomorrow. 50mph and as high as 70s. Yikes! Lawn furniture flying everywhere! The tourists on the Strip will have to stay inside and gamble. I can’t think of anything more boring.
National Pet Day. The wrong day to celebrate this for me, as I will be burying a pet today. On the bright side, I still have 11 cats.
National Submarine Day
National Cheese Fondue Day
National Barbershop Quartet Day
National Eight Track Tape Day. That is something I never had. I still have VHS tapes (and a DVD/VHS player combo to watch them on) and I have a lot of audio cassette tapes (mostly of old radio shows), but I never had the eight track tapes.
Thank you, everyone for your thoughts and words of comfort in reply to my story of Dexter’s passing. It means a lot to me. I know many of you have been through it yourselves and it never gets easier. I didn’t feel much like going to work on Sunday, but staying home wouldn’t have brought Dexter back, so I went to work. I got a lot done, condensing down the Easter stuff, so that kept my mind off my sadness a bit. And friends from work who saw my post on Facebook (the same as I posted here) also offered me their condolences. It’s nice knowing that so many people care.
Spoiler Alert! I posted this story on Facebook about the day I got Dexter. It made me cry when I proofread it. Get your hankies ready.
I still remember the day in 2006 (late October, I think) when Mary met me in the parking lot of the Walmart store where I work, and she gave me these 3 adorable kittens. She had already named one of them Spike because he kept trying to climb up her leg with those sharp little spike-like claws of his. And then when she handed me this one kitten, the name Dexter popped into my head right away, just as if he said, Hi! My name is Dexter!" So that became his name. It took a few days to come up with the name Marlow. His name is a combination of Mary’s name and the name of the person who owned the farm where all 3 kittens were born. Sadly, Spike got sick and died very suddenly just a few weeks later – right around Thanksgiving. Then a few days later, Mary brought me another kitten from the same litter (or a litter born a day before or after the others) who looked just like Spike. I named him Ike, which meant “not quite Spike”. Dexter was the last of the bunch to die, and while losing each of them has been incredibly hard, I still am thankful I had them in my life. I will always treasure my memories of them. They have all truly left pawprints on my heart.
I wrapped 2 more trees yesterday, dragging that very heavy ladder all over the yard and out into the alley to reach a little of the backside of the plum tree to save some of them from our winds. Tonight’s predicted temp has been lowered to 28. If the storm, which is dropping light snow further north, comes down this far a cloud cover could save us. My arms are really aching this morning and I slept right through the alarm.
I’m home. Everything went great. One stent is gone like the wind. The left one got replaced with one that I will pull out with a string on Thurs. All stones are GONE.
I feel good. Not even a sore throat from the breathing tube.
Thank you to everyone for the concern and well wishes!
Wasn’t there a Monty Python skit where a guy exploded after eating too much? Thankfully, that’s not the case here. On another note, saw three juncos, eleven robins, two Steller’s jays, and a rabbit while out walking today.

Honestly, Chesney! You don’t really expect Annie to believe that cats are exploding from overeating, do you?

I forgot to mention that I saw a meteor as I pulled into my driveway when I got home from work on Saturday night.

I like that all they do is complain that the food isn’t edible- but they over ate?

Somehow, I think exploding cats would sound a little different than popping balloons. But, nice try Chesney.
