Trip to Pahrump was a success, we ended up with seven owls And 3 nice vases, 8 dessert glass bowls and a couple of clocks, and some weird things, like a replica of Wyatt Earp’s gun ( that was a pen knife.) And a few things that are going to Goodwill like 8 coffee mugs. Going to a Community Garage Sale tomorrow ( Sat). We might have an addiction…nah. the owls will sell fast. It’s the new collecting fad.
We went to the OKC bombing memorial this evening. It was just nearing the end of dusk so we were able to see it all with the lights on as well as having enough natural light to see. The designers did a really nice job. It was REALLY cold, windy and a light rain was starting to fall. We were the only ones there except for a guard on what looked like a balcony of the museum. He waved to us – maybe to make sure we saw him. I did wonder about the reflecting pool, though. There wasn’t any fence or barrier around it and I wondered why not. I think I’d worry about kids (toddlers) getting away from parents and running to play in it or fall in. I don’t think it was more than a few inches deep but that’s all it would take for a child to drown. Maybe there are docents or others there during the daytime that walk around and watch out for things.
I was counting out the money for our pumpkin contest at work. I’m going to let it run for the weekend and I’ll do a final count on Tuesday, but we have a clear winner. The M&M’s raised $11.65 and my spider is in second place with $5.21. The one with the eyeballs came in third with $4.05. The other pumpkin only raised $1.16. I don’t expect much more money to be put in the jars over the weekend, so I think this will be the final standings. I was really hoping we would raise a little more money than this, but I was also expecting at least a couple more entries in the contest. And we all paid $2 for our pumpkins, so that was another $10 (there were 5 entries, but I only have pictures of 4 of them. The other was rainbow striped. It raised $1.22). The person who entered the M&M’s used their own pumpkins. Someone bought a pumpkin and then never entered the contest. I didn’t expect us to raise a lot with the contest, but I was sort of hoping for a total of $50 or close to it. No word yet on whether or not there will be prizes.
Well, at least that dog is honest. Unfortunately for him, honesty is not the best policy in this case. On another note, saw a sparrow and a wren while out walking today.
