NATIONAL TIE ONE ON DAY. National Tie One on Day might confuse people with its name. However, it is not at all about going out, getting crazy, and drinking too much while others are at home, working hard preparing for tomorrow’s big Thanksgiving Day meal. The day celebrates the apron as well as the past generations of women who wore them and it was also created as a day to bring joy to the life of someone in need and celebrate the spirit of giving.Through the years, aprons have served many purposes. They’ve protected hands from hot items coming out of the oven. In a moment of sadness, they’ve wiped tears away. Generation after generation, they protect our clothes while we cook. Though, they also protect shy, young children as they hide from strangers. During moments of haste or even humor, they handily swat away unwelcome kitchen visitors (cats, flies or cookie snatchers). They’ve carried eggs, vegetables, toys, and even the catch of the day. Aprons fan us as we wait for cakes to finish cooking and on cool mornings, they’ve warmed hands waiting for children at the bus stop or for the postman. Occasionally, they even make us feel a little more adept in the kitchen, too.

For me, it’s New Mouse day, too! My computer has been soooo slooowwww lately. I keep clicking my mouse, and clicking and clicking and nothing happens. I finally figured out the mouse was my problem. If I held the mouse button down for a couple seconds, it worked better. So, yesterday, I bought a new wireless mouse and things are much better.
By the way, my cold got much better too. I’m almost 100% back to normal. Just a little residual coughing now and then.
Welcome back, Graham, Annie and Ten Cats. And all the Graham Crackers too! It’s a day early for saying this, but I wish everyone a very safe, happy and blessed Thanksgiving!
So happy to hear from my dear graham crackers!!!! Missing your comments was stressful…but a few of us (Marge, LK, others) were able to vent on FB. One sad note was my sweet Christopher J Cat crossed the Rainbow Bridge on Saturday. Totally unexpected. He is interred near Dale. sob
Sunday my neighbor’s 2 dogs suddenly turned on Freddog and viscously attacked his head for what seemed like forever. We walk nearly every morning, feed them treats together without any fights and he has stayed overnight at their house a few times. His left ear has one complete large hole all the way through and some smaller cuts and needed an emergency trip to the vet. He was so traumatized, I just laid on top of him sobbing once they were apart. He was very lucky to not be more severely injured – but it gets worse. My friend broke 2 fingers at the base trying to get her dogs off, and spent several hours at the ER. Next day was a visit to an orthopedist, and yesterday she had corrective surgery. At least it was her left hand altho her wedding rings had to be cut off and she has a cast on for who knows how long, but hopefully it will heal perfectly. We are all good friends and there is no blame going around.
You get an “E” for effort in the troublemaking dept. Ches!!On another note… for those that will celebrate Thanksgiving tomorrow, have a great one ! Gobble til you wobble!!
Hi everyone, I missed you all. Thank goodness Queen and I email/message every day.
Thanksgiving is going to be postponed for a couple of days. My daughter has been having hemmroid trouble and two days ago she list a lot of blood and passed out. She was feeling better yesterday, but this morning she was very dizzy and weak so Scott took her to the ER. she was one point away from an emergency transfusion, and her BP was very low. So…hopefully they will do surgery and we can be done with this. I had surgery when I was 50. Went in on Friday and was back at work on Tuesday. Laser, no pain or anything.
Good for you, Annie. It’s good to be happy the way you are. As they say, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Speaking of fixing, I’m glad Gocomics and Ten Cats are back. On another note, saw five chickadees, two ravens, and a rabbit while out walking today.

I can’t remember the last time I had a Twinkie. It’s been years and years and years.
