What a day this has been. The Monsoon hit us big time. I watched the fire dept. Try to rescue a guy from the tunnels. (we have miles of tunnels under Vegas.) They are really flood control channels. But because it’s too hot to camp on the street if you are homeless the homeless live in the tunnels. They have villages and their own governments. They estimate that upwards of 2 thousand people live down there. They flood every time it rains as they were designed to do. I hope nobody drowned.
At 8 tonite we lost all power. No lights ( they were out for a few minutes) and the internet just came back up.
The lake, on the golf course, behind me actually overflowed the bank closest to me! I’m 4 feet above the course so I’m OK. We’re many feet above the Strip, so it flooded down there while our streets were okay.
Boy, do I have a story to tell you!! Spoiler alert – it has a happy ending. Otherwise, I would not be sharing it yet.
It all started on or around August 24th. I was feeding my cats their bedtime snack of canned cat food when I noticed some cats were missing. This is not so unusual, since a lot of nights I’m missing a couple cats. It’s usually Ozzie or Cassie or Beauty. The cats seem to be less interested in their canned cat food than they used to be. But this time, I was missing Pebbles. Then I realized I was also missing Panther. And Annie. And I started thinking, when was the last time I saw any of those 3 cats? I searched the house. I looked everywhere I spent 2 days of my vacation looking for those 3 cats all over the house. But they were not in the house. I determined that when I saw the window screen in my upstairs bedroom window had been broken out. I still could not believe it happened, but something spooked them and they crashed through the screen. That got them on the roof over the front room (it used to be a porch) and from there, they jumped down to the ground. Annie, of course, was the feral mama cat I had in my garage last summer. Pebbles and Panther are 2 of the kids she had in the garage, also feral. Pebbles has turned into a real lovebug, but only with me, Annie and Panther are still very afraid of strangers. So how was I going to catch these three? Well, I had recently bought a live animal trap (there’s another whole story about how I found and caught a black kitten. Maybe I can tell that story tomorrow night). I set the trap for the kitties, keeping the trap in my garage, thinking that was a good place for them to hide out, since they had lived in there for a few weeks last summer. Although, I had not seen hide nor hair of any of them since they escaped the house.
Could it be Lily sent him up there? Definitely! Up, up and away goes Chesney! He really could use a parachute. On another note, saw a squirrel, a sparrow, a deer, two dragonflies, five juncos, a Stellar’s jay, a robin, two finches, and a rabbit while out walking today.

Chesney must have put himself up there. He must have seen something that startled him, which admittedly, could have been an angry Lily.

If anyone could send Chesney that high in the air, Lily is the one who could do it!

I wouldn’t mind snacking on a buttery biscuit right now. Added to my shopping list.

A Ten Cats reader might be a good idea. Admittedly some kids prefer d**s.
