My kids came this morning, brought the big ladder ( I forgot they bought one last Dec. ) And took off the cover. This alarm wasn’t hardwired like some of mine are. We left it off, the hall one is 5 feet away. Trying to sleep on a couch with puffy cushions and just wide enough for my body was not fun either. I took a 2 hour nap this afternoon. No more problems for awhile please!
I used to have a cat named Pest (so named because he was always underfoot making a pest of himself) who had a purr so loud, you could hear it from the other side of the room. All you had to do was make eye contact with him and he would purr. He died in December of 1999 at the age of 16 from kidney failure. I still miss him.
CELEBRATION OF LIFE DAY. Interesting that this should fall on this day. I was talking to my sister, Mary, yesterday. Our 97-year old Aunt Lois is in the hospital in bad shape. Bleeding into her bladder. I talked to Lois in the hospital (by phone – she’s in Ohio. I’m in Wisconsin) and she sounded very weak. She has been in great pain. They put her on morphine. The doctors, of course, won’t come out and say it, but I’m sure her time is coming soon to leave this life. To be honest, I’m sort of expecting a call within 24 hours saying she has passed. Her kids are on their way to see her (hopefully before it’s too late). She is a lovely, loving and wonderful person, and I love her very, very much, but when she dies, I will celebrate that she lived more than I will mourn her passing. I know she is ready to go. She said so when we saw her in August. I’m glad we went to see her. All I want for her now is for an end to her pain and suffering.

NATIONAL BLONDE BROWNIE DAY. I have not had blonde brownies in years and years! I ought to bake some! I wish I could share some with my aunt Lois.
“According to research, the human body may benefit from the frequency of a cat’s purr. Notably, research has shown that the vibrations emitted by a cat’s purr can lower blood pressure, lessen stress, and even promote healing.”
Those are all very good reasons why cats purr. Another reason cats purr is to calm down people that are stressed out. Nothing like a purring cat to make you relax. On another note, saw five varied thrushes, a squirrel, and two chickadees while out walking today.

Too cute.
My Ericka (pictured) was the most affectionate cat I’ve ever encountered, but she never purred. I actually kind of liked her not purring.

I don’t mind purring, just not at 3AM, on your chest with needles

Sometimes they do it when they’re frightened. We had a cat who purred when we bathed her.
