It’s called “stowing for a rainy day”. I was out walking with one of my cats (because the other one was busy). He stopped, killed a mouse, dropped it on the trail and we moved on. I offered to wait while he ate it, but Kirby had no interest in eating his kill (ever). The next day, the other cat was with us. When we came to dead mouse, I brought it to his attention. His reaction was "dead mouse, oh boy!). He crunched it down in a few minutes. Cats!
