Maybe Angie can warn Mittens next time the alarm is going to be checked. Or have Drunk Patty wheel the Mittens around the neighborhood in his fancy chariot while the alarm is being tested.
My Fire alarm went off for no reason two weeks ago and would not shut off. After checking for smoke smell, looking in the attic and on the roof finding nothing, my fireman neighbor came over and checked the alarm. Turns out the alarm had reached it’s ten year life cycle that month as per the installation date written on the back and on cue started screaming like crazy. I spent an entire Saturday purchasing and replacing all the fire alarms in the house as they were all installed on the same day 10 years previously. In addition to checking for performance and replacing batteries, change out the entire unit when indicated as they only have a ten year life span.

Unfortunately, they don’t make noise-cancelling headphones for cats…probably because cats wouldn’t wear them if they did.

Those things hurt my ears even without hearing aids. We try to check ours when the cats are outside.

I don’t like the noise, either.
