One technique to find something is to walk around, calling it. Another is to close your eyes and visualize it. Keep picturing it until you can see and feel it in your hand. Then, relax. Keep looking, but without the urgency that drove you before, as it will show up.

I routinely find a thing in the first place I look … after I have searched everywhere and come back to the “first place” for a more thorough look. :)
