Things are looking grim, and the IRS has been sniffing around…

I can clearly see that she is keeping a second set of books, and maybe even a third.

Yep, thank you Baslim. STEVE MELCHER’S IDEA for this strip was CLEVER but too many of his CAPTIONS are so disappointingly LAME. ~ Including the true subject of each picture would add interest. ~ Also, while not religious myself, some of his captions on religious works are distasteful – in the way sniggering is. ~ Anyone else out there feel this way?

Mom always had a glass of milk and a plate of sniggers waiting for us when we got home home from school.

I’m sorry if religions literally tried to force their beliefs down your throat. True Christianity teaches that it is a message to be shared but certainly not forced. In my experience, however, I have never been coerced by any religion to accept their beliefs. I have always had a choice to either accept or reject them.

Thanks Baslim for finding a page with a different coloration image. This has the painting description written by the Saint Louis Art Museum, where this painting has been since 1950.Instead of listing the title as The Account Keeper, this lists it as The Housekeeper and points to this, which has the untranslated title as The sleeping innkeeper, in reporting that it was restituted April 7, 2003 (it was once held by the Nazis during WWII).Those are both Wikipedia references. This Wikipedia page has the image (click it and use your browser zoom to enlarge) with this coloration and the common title. Here are click-to-enlarge detailed images of the woman and the ledgers(?), as painted by the artist. This has click-to-enlarge images of the painting, and a detailed image of the woman, with yet a different coloration, maybe I’m overdoing that aspect. So far, 3 works by this artist have appeared in Mr. Melcher’s blog.

Yah, I was going to do my taxes today, but since I now find out I have until 4/17 this year, I’m already inventing reasons to put it off.

Are the mouse cursors on his new strips on purpose? I don’t see the connection to the punchline in this one.
