Either skinnin’ spuds or skinnin’ clients (altho many investors are potato heads).

the whole financial sector will never learn their lesson. even if they cost their company billions and billions in losses and need a gov’t bailout, they will never admit they did anything wrong. probably the only industry where one can lose money for their company, but get a million dollar bonus from the company.

Looks like she’s getting ready to cook up up a nice bowl of stones. Times must be tough.

Click-to-enlarge image can be found here (along with a description), or at the only work by this artist, so far, to appear in Mr. Melcher’s blog. The Kitchen Maid is shown by its current-location page with a different coloration image. The dimensions of this 1738 painting are 46.2 cm x 37.5 cm.Why do I mention the dimensions? Because in 1740, the artist (click here for a sample of his works) painted Woman Peeling Turnips (sorry @win), which, from its current-location page, is 46.2 cm x 37 cm, 0.5 cm thinner. Apart from that, the image appears identical to the 1738 painting’s current-location image, at first glance.Another different coloration, click-to-humongous image, found here, has the dated signature in the 1738 painting roughly halfway between the maid and meat cleaver. Another different coloration, click-to-humongous image, found here, has the signature in the 1740 painting at the lower left (right from this perspective) corner. Also, she has a bit more color in her cheeks, and is looking less morose (looking up) in the 1740 painting. The same website that has this (first image link above) for the 1738 painting has this for the 1740 painting (description). The artist’s Wikipedia page (Google translated French Wikipedia page has more) and collection (more under Subcategories at each level).
