,I can see the humour in the quote. Sometimes, the quotes don’t tickle my funny one==but the comments are most often whimsical wit.

Click-to-enlarge image can be found here. A smaller enlargement, can be found at the only work, by this (actually Swiss) artist, so far, to appear in Mr. Melcher’s blog.Children at Lunch isn’t shown online, as far as I can tell, by its current-location.A different coloration image can be found here. This (Google translated) has a slide show of, currently, 18 of the artist’s other paintings (German titles left untranslated, the More works link below it turns it into a pageable display). Much more information about him is displayed by clicking its Lexicon article [more …] link.Chrome can automatically translate that (though it pushes everything together into one long paragraph); Google and Bing both only show the translated un-clicked page. The artist’s Google translated German Wikipedia page and collection.

I just realized, now Child Protective Services would remove the children from the “filthy, unhealthy, unsanitary” home! Why they even had chickens in the living room!

Years ago, when I worked for the old Bell System, I had to fix a phone in an old mobile home in Brownsville, California, where the old guy DID have chickens running around inside his home, pooping on the table, the drainboards, floors wherever. Every once in a while, he’d knock one of them off the table where I was trying to work and yell “Damned chickens!”. Amazing, the people I’d come across at times. Got chased by a big pet tom turkey once – the kids had to keep it away from me while I worked – it was a MEAN turkey.

Gordon Ramsey had some episodes of one of (his many) shows where he was raising some animals in his property organically to become healthier meals. They showed conversations with his children in which he talked about how good that turkey and that little piggy were going to taste at dinner.

I actually agree that it is a valid way to raise children. I may be doing vegetarian at the moment, but it is NOT my philosophy.
