Apparently, the artist ran out of flesh tones, or this was painted before the Zombie Apocalypse got really bad. Reminds me of the early days of color TV. You could never get just the right balance between color, contrast, brightness, and tint, all of which had to be adjusted manually. And even then, what was about right for one station tended to be a little off for another (and there were only three broadcast stations – maybe four, if you could get VHF – all of which went off the air around midnight). Yes, I am that old.
