Of Course Monsters exist! There are tons of movies made about and for them! Even multiple genre’s of them. I say just identify a monster that the kid can identify with like, say, Stalin! (apply tongue in cheek here) Be the first kid on your block to order the deaths of millions!
Doesn’t hurt and when, or if, the baby ever matures out of babyhood into adulthood, hopefully he will carry on that tradition with his own child reliving his own fond memories…..

I used to keep a can of Lysol spray handy and used it to “kill” the monsters when my kids were little. Worked like a charm.
