Wilberforce: We've got a new pitcher - nobody can hit him!
Brutus: That's good. Is he a southpaw?
Wilberforce: What's a southpaw?
Brutus: A left-handed pitcher.
Wilberforce: Oh...he's a northpaw.
Southpaw is not an insult. It goes back to the early days of Baseball before lighted stadiums. Fields were designed putting Home Plate to the west to take advantage of natural light and keep the setting sun out of the batters eyes. This placed the right handed pitcher’s arm to the north and the left handed pitcher’s arm to the south. Hence Southpaw. No insult or slur.
