For some unexplained reason, this reminded me of an incident during my early seminary days. My host church wanted to make a gift of $50, a paltry sum even back then. But, someone else suggested giving a similar amount to a Bible college student. So, my already paltry $50 was cut to $25. Oh well, it was better than nothing and it is the thought that counts.
He would have split the $100 anyway because that would have been the honorable thing to do. Unfortunately the credit now goes to the boss.. and a loser he remains.
I find it hard to believe he’s that generous. I would have thought the conversation would more like, “As a bonus you get to keep your job one more week”.
