I’ve had a number of “bosses” in my day and I would never entertain the idea of doing anything with them, outside of work!

Brutus, don’t forget to nod you head and say things like “Yes”, “I See”, “Certainly” otherwise it will just be a monologue.

    That’s not a conversation, it’s a lecture.

    Communication is two-way. If it’s one-way, it’s a broadcast…

I have a friend who is like that. He is a good friend, a great guitarist and funny guy to perform with, but his conversation is another matter. I can’t get a word in edgewise. And when I do get to say something, he cuts me off to talk for another paragraph or two. It’s so exasperating especially since he says the same things over and over.

I was 24, working for a toy wholesale company in California. The owner turned out to me a mentor!

The boss is consistent but there is SOME wiggle room to have a two person intelligent conversation. Who knows, the boss might even be impressed with Brutus’s positions on various topics……

I had a boss who I enjoyed doing things with outside the office. I am pleased to call him a friend. He wanted me to call him my partner, not my boss.

I have managed businesses for over 40 years. I have learned a lot from those for whom I worked. Sadly most of what I learned from them was how not to treat and manage others. I am happy to say I have had many of my employees come up to me upon moving on with their careers and tell me that I was the best boss they ever had. Folks treat everyone you deal with like you would like them to treat you. God bless.

Big surprise there, Veeblefester has no time or use for the ideas of others.
