Yep, grand children are your reward for not choking your kids to death when they were young.

At her age she can sit in the armchair drinking booze.

Plus, as a payback, grandparents get to wire their grandchildren up with sugar then send them home for the child’s parents to deal with.

Having been given custody of our two grandchildren, it’s like getting to be parents again.

Being a parent of grandparent age (I’ll be 73 when my youngest graduates HS) I feel that I’m experiencing both worlds at the same time.

I find no fault in Wilberforce. He may turn out to be a teacher, minister or doctor not gung ho politician like Hurricane Hattie.

Often referred to Grandparents revenge. And doubly so when the Grandparents spoil them.

And when it comes to sending you to an ‘old folks home’ they’ll be right there packing your bags…

Thank you for pointing this out Wilberforce. I hadn’t realized. And it just so happens my Grandson is staying with us for a visit this week!

It certainly is different with a grandchild than a child. For one thing, you don’t even need to set any rules or make decisions. Your children will do that for you when they drop off the grandchildren.

Didn’t have any grandkids myself but I got a lot of nieces and nephews whom I consider my friends. I hope that all of you enjoy your second family. I do envy you…..

And then there are the grandparents who are raising their grandchildren for one reason or another. They have a special place in my heart because that has to be a really tough job.

I look at it a bit differently. As I told 2 of our 3 daughters the first time they did something really stupid when they got into 9th grade(more like a Chinese curse)-May you have kids that grow up to act just like you. Which, I was surprised to discover, both girls remembered what I said and called several years later to tell me I was right. They both had kids doing really stupid stuff just like they did. And they caught their kids in the act, just as wife and I caught them in the act when they were the same age.

So why are they always off on cruises?

I always say, "Grandchildren are your reward for not killing your children.

This may be true.
