Not sure which is worse, her giving him enough rope to hang himself, or him using said rope for its intended purpose. Best to just keep quiet and wait her out Brutus.
Yes it was. You either did, didn’t do, said, or didn’t say at 10:37 AM back on September 23, 1997 that upset me, and as soon as I can remember what it was, I’ll let you know.
If I may hazard a guess, I think she looks grumpy because of Wilberforce asking her age a couple days ago, and then he brought home school homework about the Middle Ages, which reminded her of her own middle ages!
With my first wife, I’m freelance photographer and I was a Baptist Deacon (I’m a Baptist Minister now). When people went to her complimenting me on how I did my job, she resented that, because they went complimenting her, because she was only a Deaconess.
ask me NO questions, I’ll tell you NO lies. the point? don’t ask. ever! why do you think men can ignore so much? just wait for her to begin the conversation. then put on your sad, I’m sorry, face when she does and promise to never do it again. BUT BEST to ask no questions and make NO eye contact
is it something he has yet to do or say? Or wait, did he forget something or said what he forgot… we could go all day, but I don’t like getting scowled at either. :}
My mother-in-law gave my wife some sagacious advice before we married. She told my wife, “You’re going to be mad at him for something. You’ll think he should know what you’re mad about. He won’t, so you might as well tell him so it can be dealt with.”
I once had one of those dreams myself. I woke up in the process of punching my ex in the back. He woke up, asked me what was going on, and I said, “Just don’t do that again.” He said, “OK,” and went back to sleep. No drama, and in the morning, I explained what I had dreamed and that my reaction was also part of the dream and we both laughed about it.
As far as Gladys’ attitude here, I think Brutus is going to eventually find out what he did or didn’t do. He does, however, look smaller today. Playing games doesn’t help a relationship, but I guess it works for them.
Brutus should’ve stopped at the first question. Any more questions just gives her ideas. Gladys might just be in the doldrums and it has nothing to do with you.
Brutus, just tell Gladys your mother started it and I am not going to apologize. If nothing else, it should really confuse her and make her forget what she’s mad about.
Brutus just wants to know what he has to apologize for. When they’ve been married as long as we have he’ll learn it’s easier to not bother with the questions and just have a generic apology to throw out in these circumstances.
Brutus, if you haven’t a clue why she’s mad, any attempt at an apology probably won’t be accepted, so don’t waste your time. Head out to a movie or something, to give her time to calm down. Then maybe she’ll be willing to discuss the problem rationally.
PS — If you come home and she’s still mad, call it a night. Don’t follow that old ridiculous nonsense that says you should never go to bed mad.
