Nobody likes Mondays. And Tuesday, Wednesday….. when you have to go to work and meet a boss as Rancid is.

Rancid is not a good motivator of people.

So sorry, Brutus, but nothing can get you down. Well, everything tries to get you down, but you know what I mean. Ever onward has worked for you (and us) for a long time.

Wonder if the strip could keep going if Brutus got a better fitting job with a better boss.

With Brutus’s luck, something always goes wrong even on the days he is off from work.

I always looked forward to going to work. I guess it was all those years that I didn’t have dependable employment. Though the pay was lousy, the other rewards were high.

What’s the difference between the words vim and vigor? Nothing, they are a tautology. They mean the same thing. I should know that. I am very smart and intelligent.

This harkens back to the January 1 strip where Brutus, buoyed with optimism of a new year, falls on the ice and ends up a human pretzel. To be fair to Brutus, it’s not just Born Losers who have their joy sucked out at the toxic tar pit of a work environment created by the Rancid one!

I’m retired now, but boy do I remember those awful days when I hated that drive to work & would sit in my car an extra few minutes before going in. I haven’t once missed that place or any of the people in it. I love retirement. I worked long & hard as a single parent. I earned my peace. Thank you God for my health & enjoyment of my senior years.

Yes, Brutus, H.D. Thoreau was accurate when he said: “The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation. What is called resignation is confirmed desperation."

The best of us that really do love our jobs feel that way at times, especially on a Monday and even worse, the First day (usually a Monday) back from a vacation. You are not alone and are really in very good company my friend….

I know the feeling, Brutus. I’ve had a few jobs that were very hard to get up and go to, and they were real soul suckers.
