The silent treatment tends to work better for those young and inexperienced newlywed types. The older one gets the more one appreciates the silent treatment.
Sometimes, on a rare bad day, I will ask to just be left alone and let me work through my funk in my own way and time. I literally ask for the silent treatment, and my dear wife is kind enough to oblige.
I’ve been able to open my windows a few days, but tonight is warm and no wind, and now I can smell the winter’s buildup of my neighbor’s dog poop and poorly tended chicken coop all too well.
WOW. Thanks for bringing back a long lost memory of taking down the winter storm windows and putting up the screens. A spring time ritual from my youth.
You know how when you were dating you promised her the Earth? It’s paying up time.
Remember to share. What’s yours is hers, and what’s hers is hers.
Never go to bed on a row. Some of the best movies are on the late night channels.
Always settle an argument by having the last word. That word is “Sorry”.
Remember: you are the one that wears the trousers in the relationship, provided you have your wife’s permission to say so. And iron them yourself if you don’t want tramlines for creases.
If a man says something, and there is no woman there to hear him, is he still wrong? Yes, yes you are. Just accept it. It’s a matter of principle thing.
Never explain yourself. If she disagrees, you are just giving her ammunition. If your argument is irrefutable, you are mansplaining just to upset her.
The sooner you give in, the sooner the pain stops.
You’ll find plenty of men who disagree with the above. They tend to be either happily divorced, or still in training and in denial. :-)
The older one gets the more one appreciates the silent treatment? I lost my loving wife on 21 Mar 23. Alone at home now. The silent treatment is driving me crazy. How I wish she was well and healthy back with me. I miss her so much. I prefer real over tv or Dvd or computer internet. I can fish when I need silence. Lord’s Nature my calming call.
Brutus did the right thing. But baseball game, c’mon that’s the most exciting game in sports, unless it was a basketball game, that could put anyone to sleep…
Gladys could also suggest to Brutus that she will help him put up the screens since chores shared go quicker, and ask for help with dinner, another chore that can be better shared. Whining to momma is the worst reaction (and expected with this family).

That’ll teach him, Gladys! Poor guy will have some peace and quiet and feel rested from his nap. How could you be so cruel? /s

If only Ma Gargoyle would give him the silent treatment.

I don’t get it. If Brutus didn’t put up the giant television screen, how can he watch the ball game from his recliner?

Leave it to Mother Gargle to encourage Gladys. I’m fortunate. My wife never called her mom to complain about me. I had a great mother-in-law, truly.

You and Brutus must have a house with very old windows, Gladys. Windows today have built-in-screens.

I’m sure Gladys didn’t learn that tactic from her mother!

As a single guy, all my days are silent. So, I easily take lots of naps.

Now if you could only convince Ramona to give Brutus the silent treatment also, he could call this time Heaven on Earth….

Gladys, your timing, as usual, is off challenges Ramona, you know, and I taught you, always at dinner, always at dinner…

Then Ramona goes on to retrain Gladys on how to handle Brutus, for the rest of her visit. You asked for it Gladys…

And I fall asleep while reading the comics here at GoComics. (Not because they’re boring——-just plain tarred.)
