As Mark Twain said,’ those who don’t read have little advantage over those who can’t’.

Will any collectable be worth what you paid for it in 100, 200, 500 years?

If I had the money bags he has, I’d rather convert them to stocks and bonds than books.

In comparison, my Kindle book collection is very unimpressive sitting on my shelf (dang digital books!).

A woman once told me, when I asked if I could look over her bookshelves, “Oh, the decorator chose them.” I never followed up on that friendship.

A family friend got two subscriptions in 1953 with a new startup magazine – he got two copies of the first 10 magazines published before his subscription kicked in – one he read, the other went into storage – value today is in the millions since he has mint condition of every issue published – not a bad investment…

And I guess they’re all first editions. The trouble with that is their value won’t come till you’re long gone, Bossman. It’s better to invest in reading them and get their true value in the reading thereof.

The thoughts of others are of no interest to Rancid. Which Brutus no doubt knows but I assume he was just giving the benefit of doubt to the Chief. Surprised Veebs let Brutus into his house. Nice smoking jacket by the way.

You don’t have to be smart to be rich… you just need to be lucky, or have a good financial advisor!

What I want to know is how Brutus got an invite to Veeblefester home to see his library in the first place. I guess Rancid needed him to carry something in from his car.

Reminds me of a story of two families, each had a Bible. One Bible was ragged and torn while the other was clean and in mint collector’s condition. One family was happy and good to each other.

Could be a good investment depending on various factors. However, if you haven’t read them, you are not only not sharing in the author’s thoughts, but you have personally lost everything the book has to offer, especially if a fire should occur. Alexandria is a good example ….

Judging from the results of the investment his parents made in his education, his book collection will also prove worthless.
