I made a mistake! I tried grinding my own burgers…don’t do it unless you know what your doing. Threw the last of away today. So dry, just horrid. I tried making it lean
A few days ago I asked the butcher for 6 shrimp. Unbelievably expensive. But hey! These are imported from a farm in Indonesian! He wrapped it. The whole thing was mostly paper and a big label.
Last year I won 2 pounds of ground Wagyu beef in an American Legion meat raffle. Later my wife didn’t know what it was, and used it in a casserole (Or as Minnesotans call it, “Hot Dish”).
As a kid, I remember something called a “Minute Steak”. They looked like little square burger patties in a package of four. Haven’t seen them in decades – might be a regional thing.
When my brother was little (about 50 years ago!) my mother sent him around the corner to the butcher to buy a chicken.. the butcher asked him what kind she wanted, and he looked at the butcher like HE was nuts, and said, “A DEAD one!”
I’ve read ground round makes a lousy meat loaf, it’s too lean. Fat has been villainized these days but it is a necessary part of the human diet. For example, my wife has a vitamin d problem and was told to drink whole milk because the increased fat helped with metabolizing the vitamin D

As they say: “If you have to ask, you can’t afford it.”

You mean like ground square, rectangle, triangle? Just go for hamburger meat.

ground square is $6/lb…

I would guess that a ground sirloin or a ground tenderloin would be EVEN MORE expensive! (Although I don’t do the grocery shopping.)

If you can’t make both ends meet, make one end vegetable.

The store where I shop had a sale on ribeye steaks yesterday. $8 a pound. I bought three.

Ground round is generally too lean and has less taste than ground chuck.

The apple doesn’t fall far from that tree. Meatloaf is a meal that always sounds good and can actually do well with lower quality ground beef….

I know I must’ve asked the same question when I was Wilbur’s age. And does ground chuck mean a cow was named Charles?

Everything is so expensive, these days. I make my own fruitcakes (great-grandmother’s recipe), and the ingredients this year cost me $75.00!

That’s an understandable question, when buy it in the store it’s usually square or rectangular.

Chip off the old blockhead. No doubt Dad was going to ask the same thing if Sonny hadn’t beaten him to it.

If he was getting deer meat in England, it would be 7 pounds a buck
