“As long as there is injustice, whenever a Targathian baby cries out, wherever a distress signal sounds among the stars, we’ll be there. This fine ship, this fine crew. Never give up… and never surrender.”
Now it’s been a while since I took analytical geometry, but I certainly do not recall “words, no math”, since we used linear and quadratic equations (just as an example) which I believe qualify as math. How do we plot parabolas, hyperbolas and cones without math? Even trig figured in at times - no math? Very strange statement, as far as I’m concerned…

I’d be stymied. Word problems worst part of math classes for me!

Always keep a slide rule handy. You never know when the battery’s gonna go on your calculator.

I hope they train their astronauts how to handle these problems in the future.

Where is are the logarithim tables? A slide rule does not usually stand alone.
ottod Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Slide rules are based on logarithms. Youi can use most slide rules to find logs.
