Um, kind of a cheap shot there, IMO, against Tara Reid. Not sure what kind of gripe the cartoonist has against her. OK, so maybe she is not exactly the queen of Hollywood or anything at this moment, but she is actually a working actress with a considerable resume. That’s actually something, IMO. Anyway, I like most of the stuff on Argyle Sweater, but just not this one. Maybe I am just being oversensitive?

Hilburn took the long way to go to make a “joke.” Maybe he is hoping she will become even more “infamous” so his joke still makes sense years from now (although, judging from the comments, it falls flat today,)
Ms Reid is an entertainer, doing her best to get along like the rest of us. I don’t see a reason to insult her. On the other hand, when it comes to this years Shark Week, I can offer some negative comments…

Lindsay Lohan would also suffice.

Who’s Tara Reid?

I think dim in this case is referring to her level of stardom, not her IQ. Since she’s barely a star she’s a dim star.

The dim refers to her intelligence. Try looking for the video of her talking about whale sharks.

If you read or listen to her interview about sharks, it’s obvious that she is more than a little dim.

A Tara Reid joke? Aren’t we a decade late for those?

I nominate Victoria Jackson for this honor.

Who the heck is she? Most of that printed trash at the checkout is about people I never heard of.

Scott Hillburn is the most mean-spirited single-panel nonpolitical cartoonist I know of. Yet I approve.

Wow. Was Mr. Hillburn spurned by Ms. Reid?

I think it was kind of mean like in junior high…..so she’s not the best actress or has the biggest stardom, sometimes it doesn’t need to be said.
